We receive many requests to advertise events taking place locally. When deciding whether or not we should advertise an activity, we need to exercise due caution and see to it that we are not agreeing to advertising an event or activity which might damage our reputation and go against our vision or mission in the community and as summarized in our straplines above.

So in normal circumstances, it should be possible to assess a particular request against the following criteria:

  1. Where the activity has a direct connection with Trinity Church, or another local Church which shares our own view of mission then we are happy to advertise it.
  2. If an activity has a connection with the local community and which we can support through our own view of mission and vision in the community, we are also happy to support it through advertising. This would also be the case for non-profit organisations operating in the local community and which do not disagree with the Christian principles espoused by the Trinity Church Local Ecumenical Partnership of Baptist, Methodist and United Reformed Churches.
  3. However, we cannot advertise profit-making organisations, companies and so on which do not have a demonstrable link with the promotion of the values of our Church.

Where there is serious doubt over a particular event or activity and the advertising of it, it should be referred first of all to the Church Administrator and if necessary to the Minister. Should discussion be required at Trustee level, then the matter should be brought to the soonest possible meeting in order to seek adjudication, the final decision resting with the Minister.
