May these words of my mouth and this meditation of my heart be pleasing in your sight, Lord, my Rock and my Redeemer. Psalm 19

Before I became a Christian I always associated these words with a song by Boney M – By the rivers of Babylon – I am showing my age now!
Today as I joined the YBA midday prayer our regional Minister, Mary Taylor read these words from psalm 19. I love it when something that is so familiar suddenly take on a fresh new meaning – and today that happened as Mary read the.

In the past they have been a short prayer that I send up before I write a sermon, an email or a reflection or on a Sunday before I share a word or in a pastoral situation when I pray for others.

But today was different because suddenly they meant so much more to me, they suddenly become a different and deeper prayer that covers everything I say, do or think, words that now cover my actions each day as I try to serve God in this place.

So why not join me in making this your daily battle cry as you declare these words over your day so that all that you do, all that you say and all that you think will be pleasing to our Lord who is our rock and to who we are so very grateful…..
